What happens if you damage a car from Turo?
If your guest reports damage to your vehicle, we'll email you a damage notification. If the damage to your vehicle exposes a safety risk or renders it inoperable, we'll restrict your vehicle making it unavailable for guests to book. Once you've had the damage repaired, you can contact us to remove the restriction.

Does Turo cover crashes?
If you have an accident as a Turo renter, you must report the accident immediately – at least within 24 hours of the trip's end or date of the incident. You must also file a police report and provide the report number to Turo. If you don't, you may not be eligible for compensation.
Does Turo charge for damages?
If the damage is eligible for reimbursement to the host, Turo will: Charge you a damage deposit in line with the extent of damage and the protection plan you chose: $500 or $3,000 (US)
How do I dispute a damage claim on Turo?
Scroll to the bottom of the invoice and tap “Dispute.” We'll prompt you to identify the charge you're disputing and why. We'll also remind you to upload to Trip photos any relevant pre- and post-trip photos. You must have taken photos no more than 24 hours before trip start and no more than 24 hours after trip end.
What is eligible damage on Turo?
You're responsible for any eligible damage that occurs during a trip, whether or not you're at fault or caused the damage. By choosing a protection plan available through Turo, you can limit the amount you'd have to pay out of pocket if your host's vehicle is damaged during your trip.

Can Turo take you to court?
You could sue Turo if the owner lied about the defects present on a car and you were involved in an accident because the pre-existing damage. You may also be able to sue if there are warrants for the car and you are arrested or left stranded because of a repossession.
What are the risks with Turo?
From an owner's perspective, one of the biggest risks they face is having a vehicle stolen, in which case the platform could also potentially be held liable for facilitating the rental. Renters, meanwhile, are liable for their actions while renting the vehicle.

Does Turo cover mechanical damage?
Like all claims, wear and tear damage claims must be tied to a guest trip. Guests aren't responsible for wear and tear or mechanical failure from normal vehicle use.
Are you covered with Turo?
You don't need personal insurance coverage if you book a trip with a protection plan made available via Turo. If you do have insurance, our liability insurance provider* will supplement your personal coverage. Depending on the protection plan you select, liability coverage is up to $750,000 in the US.
